IU Unable To Dig Out Of Halftime Deficit At Cabrini

 RADNOR, Pa.- The Mighty Mac men's basketball team (7-10, 2-3) hoped to get back on track on Wednesday night at Cabrini (4-13, 2-3), but the Cavaliers started the game on fire, racing out to a 52-22 halftime lead, and despite 61 second half points by the Mighty Macs, it was not enough in a 97-83 defeat on the road.
Senior Mike Piekarski (St Elizabeths) led the way with 20 points and five blocks, while sophomore Brandon McCullough had 19 and sophomore Asa Kitchen had 12.
-The Mighty Macs took the first and their only lead of the day, 3-0, in the early going, but that was brief as the Cavaliers quickly tied it and went on a 16-2 run to take their lead to double digits just five minutes in
-Junior Jordan Ambrose hit a jumper to slow the run, but by the 9:37 mark, Cabrini had opened up a 22-point lead at 32-10
-The Mighty Macs punched back with seven straight points to cut the deficit to 15 at 32-17, but Cabrini closed the half on a 20-5 run to take their 52-22 lead to the break
-Despite the tough first half, the Mighty Macs came out strong in the second half and outscored Cabrini, 61-45 after halftime
-They forced 12 turnovers and scored 18 points off those giveaways, and shot over 50% from the field
-Cabrini hit five of their 12 three point attempts after halftime to prevent the Macs from getting too close
-Cabrini shot the ball well at a 50% clip (34-for-68) and the Macs were 33-for-74 (44.6%)
-There was a big difference from three point range as IU shot 4-for-18 (22.2%), three of them late in the game, while the Cavaliers were 12-for-25 (48%)
-IU was 13-for-21 from the line and the Cavaliers were 17-for-27 (63%)
-Rebounds were even at 45-43 slight advantage to Cabrini
