Team effort highlights men’s basketball’s 77-62 win over Marymo

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College men's basketball team snapped their three-game losing streak when they defeated the Marymount Saints 77-62 at home on Saturday for their second Atlantic East Conference win of the season.

Five Wolverines tallied double-digits in the game. Wesley outshot Marymount, shooting 53 percent (26-49) from the field, 50 percent (6-12) from beyond-the-arc and 79 percent (19-24) from the free-throw line. Wesley also won the battle of the boards over Marymount, holding the 32-29 edge on the glass.

Derick Charles and Evan Anderson sparked Wesley's attack early on.  Charles led the Wolverines tallying 11 of his 13 points in the first half. Charles also kept the Wesley attack alive by hauling in five offensive boards and added three defensive rebounds to total eight on the day. Anderson added 10 of his 14 points during the first-half surge. He shot 4-of-6 from the field and knocked down a pair from behind the three-point line. Anderson would add two assists and two rebounds.

Coming out of the first half with Wesley holding a 41-25 lead, Brian Cameron came alive in the second half to ensure that Wesley stayed on top. Cameron scored 15 of his game-high 18 points in the final frame, including all three of his 3-pointers. Cameron brought down seven rebounds and handed out four assists in the win.

Tyrone Craven narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and a game-high seven assists. Brandon Lewis provided insurance off the bench scoring 14 points, notching a pair of assists, steals and rebounds.

Steve Etienne led the Saints with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Wesley (8-10, 2-3 Atlantic East) will hit the road on Wednesday, Jan. 23 to square off with the Neumann Knights in Atlantic East action. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
