Two Big Innings Lift Knights Over Red Hawks

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Montclair State University 10-3 on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
The Knights jumped on the board quickly with four runs in the first inning. John Schoelkopf led off the game with a double. John Lindeborn was hit by a pitch for two runners on base. With one out, Curt Yenchik ripped a two-run double. With two outs, Joe Nepi (Hodgson) knocked a two-run homerun to right field.
The Red Hawks answered back in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run homerun.
Neumann broke open the game in the sixth inning when it sent 11 batter to the plate and scored six runs. Colin Pollard pinch ran and scored the first run of the inning. He then came up to bat later in the inning and hit a two-run single.
Phil Sanborn started the game and went 8.1 innings for this win. He allowed three runs on 10 hits and struck out eight. Lindeborn came in and got the final two outs of the contest.
Neumann (8-9) will host Susquehanna on Tuesday afternoon First pitch is slated for 4:00 PM.
