Goldey-Beacom made great use of its new scoreboard, which displayed a men's soccer score for the first time and that was a 7-1 victory over Shepherd at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The first minute was a preview of things to come with senior Jamie McAvoy (Ayr, Scotland) converting a long pass from sophomore Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) and putting home a long shot.  McAvoy in the 24th minute again finished a pass from Coimbra, this time heading in a corner kick for a 2-0 margin.

Steven Choque tallied for the Rams in the 36th minute to halve the deficit, but the Lightning got it right back in the 43rd minute.  Coimbra had the ball inside the box and showed great poise in gaining possession, turning and scoring for a 3-1 contest.

GBC then put up a four spot in the second half for the final.  Freshman Abdoul Konate (William Penn) scored twice in the period with sophomore Josh Moody (St Georges) and junior Lance Ksiazek (Appoquinimink) each finding the back of the net.

Moody's goal was a result of Coimbra's third assist after entering the match with two career.

Coimbra ended with six shots and junior Cole Lewis (Caravel) made five saves for the Lightning (1-2).

Justin Daniels attempted three shots with Billy Wood making four saves in the second half for the Rams (1-2).

Goldey-Beacom this Saturday hits the road to visit Shippensburg for a 3:30 pm match.
