BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter

  • Facing a 1st-and-Goal on the 3-yard line after a long pass play by Kobe Berghammer to Riley Kallas, Salisbury was able to hold UW-Oshkosh out of the endzone after four straight Peter MacCudden runs were stonewalled by the Sea Gull front seven.
  • After another goal-line stand, Salisbury kept the game scoreless after Jamarkus Brumskin blocked a 25-yard field goal attempt by Peyton Peterson and was recovered by Derrick Wright.

Second Quarter

  • A 37-yard punt return by Chris Clark set up Salisbury at midfield. Salisbury's nine-play, 46-yard drive ended with a botched 20-yard field goal attempt that went straight to Bert Schrecongost and the Oshkosh defense stopped Schrecongost short of the goal line.
  • The Salisbury defense recorded a three-and-out on the ensuing Oshkosh drive to take over at the Oshkosh 43-yard line. An 11-yard run by Jack Lanham and a 19-yard Chad Gleason run set up Salisbury in the red zone.
  • Two plays later, Michael Fowler scored from five yards out on a toss play to register the first points of the game. Schrecongost's extra-point put Salisbury up 7-0 with 3:17 left in the first half.
  • On the next Salisbury drive, Salisbury went up 14-0 a minute before the halftime break when Jack Lanham found a wide-open Damien King in front of the endzone for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Third Quarter

  • Schrecongost capped off a long 11 play, 67-yard drive with a 27-yard field goal to give Salisbury the 17-0 lead with 2:23 left in the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

  • Two plays after a Gleason 37-yard run to set up Salisbury with goal-to-go, Hopeton Mair scored from two yards out to give Salisbury a 24-0 lead in the early moments of the fourth quarter.
  • On the opening play of Oshkosh's first possession of the fourth quarter, Riley Kallas scored on a 66-yard reverse for Oshkosh's first points of the game.
  • On Oshkosh's next drive, Kobe Berghammer rolled out of the pocket to find Justin Kasuboski on the sideline. Kasuboski broke a tackle and scored a 49-yard touchdown to cut Salisbury lead to 24-13 with 9:09 left in regulation.
  • Oshkosh was driving down the field again looking to score with the ball on the Salisbury eight-yard line. Berghammer's pass was intercepted by Sean Carroll (Mt Pleasant) in the end zone with just over four minutes left in the game.
  • Oshkosh got another late score with a Ryan Hayes 36-yard touchdown catch from Berghammer with 1:15 left in the game but Salisbury recovered Oshkosh's onside kick attempt to seal the victory.
