10 Things to look for on the third weekend of high school football


  1. Early season top 5  battles- 302 sports has a big early season top 5 showdown as #4 Middletown travels to #3 Hodgson for an early morning kickoff.  Catch the action on 302 sports at 1030 AM. Also top rank Woodbridge travels to #2 Friends for a Division 2 championship rematch.
  2. First Night game at Brandywine for Football Team .  The Bulldogs football team will finally play under the new lights on Foulk road.  Playing #3 Howard will not be an easy first game under the lights.
  3. Opening of New DMA Football Stadium: The DMA football team will finally play a home game on campus as they host Red Lion tonight.
  4. Conference Showdowns We have 11 conference showdowns this week highlighted by the Sussex Central Smyrna game which you can watch on 302 sports.
  5. Saturday Spotlight   This week there will be 8 Saturday games including 2 top 5 battles.  There is no night games on Saturday but get out early to watch these games..
  6. Top 10 battles: This week is highlighted by big top 10 battles.  The 2 big games on Saturday as #2 Friend’s host #1 Woodbridge in a Division 2  and #3 Hodgson hosting #4 Middletown in Division 1.. Sallies ranked second travels to fifth rank Appoquinimink.  Smyrna and Sussex Central will be another top 10 match up.  
  7. Temporary Lights at Tatnall: The Tatnall Hornets will play a Friday night home game under the temporary lights.  They will host the Auks of Archmere who is looking to start the season 3-0 after losing most of it’s offense to graduation.  
  8. Offense vs Defense:  The high powered Sals offense averaging 42 points a game faces an Appoquinimink defense that is allowing 3.5 points per game.  Which unit will prevail tonight?
  9. Weather Factors:  Talk about a contrasting weekend.  The weather will feel like fall on Friday night as temperatures will be in the 60’s,  Saturday will feel like summer especially for the Friend’s Woodbridge game.where it could reach 90 degrees  Could be the factor in that battle.
  10.  Henlopen North:  This week we will find out what the Henlopen conference is all about.  The Golden Knights travel to Smyrna for a tough conference opner, Sussex Tech travels to William Penn for a big non conference game,  CR and Dover are looking to get in the win column after tough losses against rank teams.
