Men's Basketball Stays Unbeaten, Davis Narrowly Misses Triple-D

The Arcadia University men's basketball team remained unbeaten with a 86-73 victory over Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon. Da'Kquan Davis narrowly missed out on a triple-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to continue his hot start to the 2019-20 season. Steve Pendleton also put together an impressive showing for the Knights with 22 points and four rebounds. 

Jacob Walsh (Sanford) reached double figures for the first time this season with 14 points. The stretch big shot 4-5 from beyond the arc, including three three-pointers in the second half. Will Derr was the fourth Knight in double figures with 11 points, while freshmen Jalen Watkins and Justin Money (St Elizabeths) tallied six points, respectively. 

After a first half draw, the Knights and Mighty Macs traded leads in the second half before the Knights pulled away late in the second half with a 17-7 run to end the game. 

- The Knights were in control early, jumping out to a 19-8 lead in the opening five minutes. Arcadia shot a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc during that stretch, with two three pointers from Pendleton and one from Walsh and Money, respectively. The Macs slowly chipped at the Knights lead until Davis brought Arcadia's lead back to double digits with a three-pointer to expand the squad's lead to 29-18 with 11:34 remaining.

- Immaculata outscored Arcadia 24-13 in the final 10 minutes to claw back into the game. The Mighty Macs closed out the half with the final six points to tie the game at 44-44.

- The Mighty Macs carried momentum into the second half with the opening four points to cap off a 10-0 run. With 15:55 remaining, Walsh hit his first of three second half three-pointers to pull the Knights within one point, while Pendleton hit a jumper to regain the lead. 

- After the Knights built their lead to seven points, Immaculata stormed back and retook the lead with 7:59 remaining. However, Pendleton answered with a three-point play and Walsh sunk another long ball to put the Knights ahead 69-64. Later in the half, Walsh and Davis put the game out of reach with consecutive three-pointers to take the contest's largest lead, 81-66, with 2:28 remaining. 

- Points: Davis 27, Pendleton 22, Walsh 14
- Assists: Davis 8, Derr/Patel 5
- Rebounds: Davis 11, Derr 6
- Steals: Davis 2

- The Knights shot 55.4 percent from the field, while the Mighty Macs were 40.3 percent.
- Arcadia also had a stellar performance from beyond the arc, shooting 54.2 percent (13-24) on the afternoon.
- The Knights lost the turnover battle 17-9.

The Knights (4-0) return to action at Gwynedd Mercy for the Battle of Route 309 on Tuesday at 8:00 PM.
