Delmar field hockey team wins fourth straight DIAA State Champi

The Delmar field hockey team won their fourth straight DIAA state championship by defeating Indian River 6-3 in the Divison II Field Hockey State Championship. 

Despite the Cold & Windy condition st Sussex Acacemy the Wildcats got off to a fast start, with Olivia Twilley scoring just a couple minutes into the game. However Indian River would strike back one minute later with a goal from Kayler Townsend. The Wildcats then reeled off three more goals, Twilley 24:33, Logan Walls 19:15, & Maci Bradford 9:23 Delmar would take a 4-1 lead headed into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half Delmar continued right where they left off Josie Hollamon got her first goal of the game off a corner blasting a shot past the Indian River Goalie from the top of the shooting circle. Indian River would come back with an answer of their own by scoring two straight goals Avery Congelton12:35 & Emma Ruley with 8:30 to go in the game to bring the score to 5-3. Delmar would get one last answer though, off a corner as time-expired Holloman again blasted another shot from the top of the shooting circle to score as time expired. 

The win was the 62nd straight victory for the Delmar Wildcats as they continue to show their domination on the Field Hockey scene. Theor 6 goals would also be the most goals in a DIAA Field Hockey State Championship game.
