Women’s Basketball Out Paced by Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team was out paced by Gwynedd Mercy University 96-66 on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.
Terea Hunt (Caravel) had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while adding four blocks. Tierra Harris also netted 16 points. Kiara Stovall added 13 points.
The Griffins opened the game by scoring the first eight points. Kamryn Englert put the Knights on the board with a jumper 1:39 into the game. Neumann pulled to within four, 10-6, midway through the quarter. Gwynedd Mercy then netted six consecutive points to take a double-digit lead, 16-6. Harris scored the final point of the quarter with two minutes left on the clock and the Griffins held a 19-11 advantage.
The teams remained even during the second quarter battle, but Gwynedd Mercy held the lead, 37-30, at the break.
The Griffins used a 10-0 run during the third quarter to extend their lead and the teams went into the fourth quarter with Gwynedd Mercy holding a 72-49 advantage. The Griffins kept the pressure on during the fourth quarter to come away with the 96-66 win.
Neumann (5-13, 1-4 Atlantic East) will be back home next Wednesday when it hosts Marywood for an Atlantic East doubleheader beginning at 6:00 PM.
