Arlington, VA – The Men's Basketball team escaped a Marymount comeback within the last few minutes of Saturday's game, securing their victory, 88-84. The Wolverines improve their season record to 12-8 and their conference record to 6-1.

The first 10 minutes of the first half saw Marymount's offense stay one step ahead of Wesley until Michael McCants (St Georges) tossed a layup that tied the game 17-17 with 9:18 on the clock. The team then held control of the lead for the rest of the game despite Marymount tying the Wolverines twice more in the first half. The half ended with Wesley leading 38-34.

During the second half, Wesley's offense pulled away on three-pointers made by Greg Bloodsworth (Smyrna) and Brian Cameron (DMA) to lead the Saints 54-45 with 14:58 left to go. The Wolverines' largest lead of the game, 79-66, was suddenly a distant memory with Marymount scoring 10 consecutive points within the final three minutes of the half, closing in on Wesley 86-84 with just 42 seconds left in the game.

Wesley's defense kicked into high gear to keep Marymount at 84 points for the rest of the game, denying the Saints a successful comeback.

Cameron scored 38 points, sinking 15 of them on three pointers alone. His eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals allowed Wesley to have some breathing room when Marymount rallied late in the second half.

Bloodsworth's 17 points and three rebounds helped the Wolverines in their victory.

Mychal Stefanides shot for 55% from field goal range and 60% from three-point range, accumulating 16 points while grabbing three rebounds while Terrence Braxton (Caesar Rodney) muscled for seven rebounds of his own.

The Men's Basketball team looks for their third straight win on Wednesday, Feb. 5th in Wentworth Gym. Tip off will take place at 8 p.m
