Smyrna wins hard fought DI & Caravel dominate Division II Dual

Both #1 seeds answered the call in the 2019/20 Dual Wrestling Championships at Smyrna high school Saturday night Smyrna the Division I state championship had a hard fought match having to pull from behind in a 36-34 win over Milford, as Caravel started off slow but would eventually be to much for the first time Woodbridge Blue Raiders

The cinderella story was the Woodbridge Blue Raiders as they made their first ever state championship appearance, but they would not have a fairy tale ending. Woodbridge would jump out to a 3-0 lead with a win in the fist match at the 160 class. Caravel would then dominate the match from their on out as the outscored the Blue Raiders 57-4 on their way to winning the Division II Dual Wrestling State Championship.

Smyrna would have to come from behind against DI newcomer Milford Buccaneers. Milford has been DII till this season as they were moved up to the Division I this sports season. Milford is no stranger to championship matches as they won 6 straight in division II before the move to Division I. Milford would take a late lead 34-27 as Senior Tom O'Hara would get 6 points in a win over Smyrna Isaiah Jenkins. With 2 matches remaining Smyrna would get the victories they needed. Joey Natarcola from Smyrna would get a huge pin over Ryan Mejia to bring the score to 34-33 Milford. The hero for Smyrna would be Bryce Mullen who would have to take the win over Dominic Feighterner as he was able to score a take down to win the match 42 and give the Smyrna Eagles a 36-34 win over Milford for the Division I Dual Wrestling State Championship.
