Gabe Giampietro - Smyrna High School, 106 lbs Sophomore
Giampietro captured his second state title on Saturday night with a 15-0 technical fall over Salesianum's Chris Gandolfo. The 2x Henlopen Conference champion blew through the bracket with two pins and two technical falls. Giampietro ended his season with a 40-4 record.

Luke Poore - Caravel Academy, 113 lbs Freshman
Poore was the only freshman to win a state championship this year. Poore captured the 113 lb title with a 15-0 technical over Matthew Meadows of St. Georges. Poore reached the finals with a pin, a technical fall and his closest match of the tournament a 4-0 decision over Milford's Corey Messick. Poore was one of four Caravel wrestlers to win state championships at this years tournament. Poore finished the season with a 45-5 record.

Jack Thode - Milford High School, 120 lbs Sophomore
Last year the Bucs sent four wrestlers to the finals, but were unable to crown a champion. This year the Bucs sent three wrestlers to the finals with Thode able to break through the glass ceiling and give Milford a state champion. Thode won a tight 3-2 decision over Dylan Knight of Caravel Academy. Thode finished the 2020 season with a 44-5 record.

Ethan Gray - Caravel Academy, 126 lbs Junior
Gray won what may have very well been the deepest weight class in the tournament and he had to take the tough road to a state title. Gray came into the tournament as the #7 seed and knocked off the #2, #3 and the #1 seed to be crowned state champion. Gray won a 9-5 decision over Milford's Trent Grant in the finals. After falling behind 5-0 to start match, Gray stormed back in the second and third period with three sets of near fall points to take the lead. Gray finished the season with a 45-8 record in winning his first state title

Will Carl - Middletown High School
132 lbs Senior
Carl broke a 7-7 tie in the final minute of the match with a takedown to win the 132 lb state title 9-7 over Amir Pierce of Smyrna. Carl registered two pins and a major decision to reach the finals. The Middletown senior was named the tournament's outstanding wrestler and finished his season with a 47-3 record.

Alex Poore - Caravel Academy, 138 lbs Sophomore
After reaching the finals with three pins Poore won his state title in the finals most exciting match. With Poore leading 1-0 Caesar Rodney's Patrick Wisniewski took the lead with a takedown with only seven seconds left in the match. Poore escaped at the buzzer to force overtime where he scored a takedown in sudden victory to win 4-2. Poore finished his season with a 42-6 record winning his second state title.

Joey Natarcola - Smyrna High School, 145 lbs Junior
Making his third state finals appearance Natarcola won a 3-0 decision over Jevon Saffold of Sussex Central. Natarcola got a scare in the semi-finals winning a 6-4 overtime victory over Will Brock of Salesianum School. Natarcola recorded two pins on Friday night to start the tournament. Natarcola finished the season with a 32-8 record winning his second state championship.

Jackson Dean - Caesar Rodney High School, 152 lbs Senior
Dean recorded two pins and a major decision to reach the 152 lbs finals where he won a 18-7 major decision over Sanford School's Justin Griffith in the final bout of the evening. Dean recorded eight takedowns in the match winning his third state title. He finished his season with a 42-6 record and earned career victory #151. 

Nick Hall - Caravel Academy, 160 lbs Sophomore
The Caravel Academy sophomore started the evening being crowned state champion. Hall won an 8-1 major decision over Kenel Jean Pierre of Polytech High School in the championship match. Hall finished the season with a 42-5 record winning his second state championship.

Andre Currie - Cape Henlopen High School, 170 lbs Senior
Currie won his first state title on his home mat in Lewes on Saturday night. The Vikings senior won an 11-8 decision over Anthony Bernieri of Caravel Academy in the finals. Currie finished the season with a 41-5 record.

J. T. Davis - Smyrna High School, 182 lbs Senior
Davis won his second state title for the Eagles with an 18-3 technical fall over Josh Negron of Sussex Tech. Davis recorded three technical falls and a major decision in the tournament. Davis finished his season with a 39-7 record winning his second state championship.

Azeem Bell - A. I. DuPont High School, 195 lbs Senior
Bell outlasted Salesianum's defending state champion Danny Stradley 3-2 in the night's longest bout which went to the third overtime. Bell won the first state championship for A.I. DuPont in 25 years. He finished his season with a 35-3 record.

Hugo Harp - Smyrna High School, 220 lbs Senior
Harp was one of four Smyrna wrestlers to ascend to the top of the podium on Saturday night. Harp reached the finals recording three pins before winning an 8-3 decision over Kris Thompson of Lake Forest. Harp finished the season with a 43-7 record winning this third state championship

Kevin Hudson - Caesar Rodney High School, 285 lbs Junior
Hudson reached the finals for the third time at 285 lbs. Hudson and Milford's Anthony Diaz met in a rematch of the Henlopen Conference finals. Saturday night the two heavyweights put on one of the wildest finishes of the night four of the six match points being scored in 20 seconds when Hudson responded with a takedown following Diaz's escape in the second overtime period. Hudson's title was the 100th state champion for the Caesar Rodney Riders. He finished the season with a 32-8 record and his second state championship.
