FREDERICKSBURG, Va.
– A pair of freshmen helped the Salisbury University softball team sweep the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) weekly awards on Monday.

Freshman infielder Maddison Lednum was selected as the CAC Player of the Week. Lednum hit a walk-off three-run home run to clinch a doubleheader sweep over Lynchburg on Monday and extend No. 12 Salisbury's winning streak to 10 games. Lednum totaled four hits, four runs batted in and a double in the doubleheader to push her hitting streak to five games.

Freshman hurler Savannah Sheats (Caravel) collected the CAC Pitcher of the Week. Sheats registered her ninth win of the season in a 2-0 complete-game shutout over Lynchburg. Sheats struck out five and only allowed five hits and two walks. Sheats won five consecutive decisions and is tied for the NCAA lead in wins with East Texas Baptist's Beatriz Lara.

Salisbury won at least one CAC Player of the Week in three of the four weeks of the award. Lednum and Sheats join Jillian Jones and Lindsey Windsor as the conference weekly award winners during the 2020 season.
