TOWSON, Md. – Towson University wide receiver and Eastern Shore native Shane Leatherbury (Delmar) has signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals following the 2020 National Football League (NFL) draft.

Leatherbury was signed as undrafted free agent not long after the conclusion of the draft.  Towson currently has two players in the NFL set to play in the 2020 season, Jordan Dangerfield of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tye Smith of the Tennessee Titans.  Each signed contracts in the offseason to return to the league.

A former walk-on turned scholarship player, Leatherbury was a two-time All-CAA wide receiver, including First Team in 2018 and Second Team in 2019.  He stands in the top-10 in Towson history in receiving touchdowns, receptions and yards, finishing his Black & Gold career with 149 catches for 1,848 yards and 21 touchdowns.  His 12 receiving touchdowns in 2019 is tied for first in program history, including five vs. Bucknell to tie the Towson single game record.

The Cardinals finished 5-10-1 last year under first-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury.  Leatherbury looks to be the first-ever Towson Tiger to make Arizona's active roster.  Former Tiger Darius Victor was a member of the Cardinals practice squad from 2017-18.

Several other Tigers will look to get free agent contracts or mini-camp invitations in the coming days into the NFL.
