West Chester Finishes 3rd at Thomas Murphy Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md.-West Chester men's swimming and diving team was back in the pool on Saturday for day of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. West Chester had a strong day leading them to a third place finish with a score of 669.
BALTIMORE, Md.-West Chester men's swimming and diving team was back in the pool on Saturday for day two of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. West Chester had a strong day leading them to a third place finish with a score of 669.

Dylan North (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) started the day off with a four place finish in the 400 IM recording a time of 4:09.40 to kick off the second session. Pijus Mackevicius (Kaunas, Lithuania) finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.75.

 Shota Nakano (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) recorded a second place finish of his own in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.39. In the 100 backstroke Kohle Kerchner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) finished in fourth with a time of 51.79.

In the men's 1650 freestyle the Golden Rams took second and third with Keir Uhlin (Lilitz, Pa./Warwick finishing in second with a time of 16:29.36 while North finished third with a time of 16:30.47.

The 200 medley team of Kerchner, Nakano, Mackevicius, and Evan Sherkness (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) finished in second with a time of 1:33.99. North continued his big afternoon recording a fifth place finish in the 200 backstroke with a  time of 1:56.19. Nakano also had a strong afternoon which he capped off with a victory in the 200 breaststroke winning with a time of 2:04.44.

West Chester is back in action on December 1st and 2nd at the TCNJ Diving Invitational.
