LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University men's soccer senior forward Elliott Otmani (La Ciotat, France/Bonaparte) has been selected to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team, the organization today announced. Otmani, an All-Northeast Region First Team selection, has also achieved in the classroom, posting a 3.51 grade-point average as a Human Resource Management major.

Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I level must meet the following criteria:

- 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
- Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
- Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
- Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school

Players on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Luncheon on January 20, 2018 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention.

"Scholar All-American can be a little deceiving when talking about Elliott because it would be easy to look past the fact that he is a tremendous player," said Rider Men's Soccer Head Coach Charlie Inverso. "The other aspect of this award that might get overlooked is that he is going to graduate Magna Cum Laude and went through school learning in his second language. The kid is incredibly driven. Just like Jose (Aguinaga), he works a lot of hours during the season on campus in addition to the time he puts into school and soccer. Elliott could be an All-American in a lot of different categories. Leadership, loyalty, work ethic and definitely comedy. We got incredibly lucky when he decided to come to play for Rider."

Otmani made his second appearance on the All-Region Team, elevating to the First Team this season after a Second Team honor in 2016. A two-time All-MAAC selection, the 2015 MAAC Championship MVP led the Broncs with nine goals and 20 points this season, including two game winners against Monmouth and Quinnipiac. He also scored equalizers in a win over La Salle and a tie against Canisius, while adding a goal and an assist in the Broncs MAAC Semifinal win over Canisius on Nov. 9.

Otmani was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the second-straight year.
