Wrestling Maintains Presence in National Rankings

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Rider University wrestling team continues to maintain its position among the top wrestling programs in the country, ranking as highly as No. 16 nationally in the current dual rankings and No. 17 in the tournament polls. In addition, redshirt senior 165-pounder Chad Walsh (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) ranks as highly as No. 3 in the nation and fellow fifth-year senior B.J. Clagon (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) is ranked eighth at 157 in three different polls.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Rider University wrestling team continues to maintain its position among the top wrestling programs in the country, ranking as highly as No. 16 nationally in the current dual rankings and No. 17 in the tournament polls. In addition, redshirt senior 165-pounder Chad Walsh (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) ranks as highly as No. 3 in the nation and fellow fifth-year senior B.J. Clagon (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) is ranked eighth at 157 in three different polls.

The Broncs, who rank 21st in the latest USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll, also come in at No. 16 in the Wrestlestat dual rankings. The Open Mat ranks Rider 19th, while Intermat positions the Broncs 22nd in its dual poll. Intermat ranks Rider 17th in its tournament rankings, while the Broncs are 22nd in the Wrestlestat and The Open Mat tournament polls.

Walsh is ranked third by both Intermat and Amateur Wrestling News, while Wrestlestat has him at No. 4. Both FloWrestling and The Open Mat rank Walsh sixth. The redshirt senior two-time All-American has posted an 8-0 record so far this season, with a ninth win coming in the NWCA All-Star Classic against Princeton Jonathan Schleifer.

Clagon, a 2015 All-American, is ranked as highly as No. 8 in three different national polls – FloWrestling, Intermat and The Open Mat. Amateur Wrestling News slots Clagon in at No. 10, while Wrestlestat has him at No. 12. Clagon has posted a 5-2 record this season, including a win over Michigan's Alec Pantaleo at the NWCA All-Star Classic. Pantaleo is currently ranked fourth in three national polls at 157.   

The Broncs return to action Dec. 29-30 at the South Beach Duals. Rider will face Columbia (11 a.m.) and North Dakota State (1 p.m.) on Dec. 29, before squaring off with Missouri (11 a.m.) and Franklin & Marshall (1 p.m.) on Dec. 30.
