Piekarski's 34 Lead Macs to Rout of Marywood, 97-69

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Mike Piekarski's (St Elizabeth) career-high 34 points - one point shy of tying the all-time program record - were more than enough to lead the Immaculata men's basketball team to a pivotal Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory over visiting Marywood, 97-69. Jordan Ambrose was equally impressive in the effort, dropping 27 of his own thanks to 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.

The win brings the Macs to the .500 mark in CSAC play at 4-4.

-Piekarski produced 13 of his career-high 34 points in the first half to get the Macs within one at half time, 40-39.
-The Macs exploded out of the break, ripping off a 17-7 run to take an eight-point lead with just under 13 minutes left in regulation.
-With the lead extended all the way to 14 at the seven-minute mark of the second half, the Macs then poured it on to put the game away with a 26-10 run to end the game.
-Piekarski and Ambrose combined for 39 of the Macs' 58 points in the second half, as Piekarski shot 8-of-13 from the field while Ambrose was 6-of-7, including 3-of-4 from three.

-Immaculata outscored Marywood in the second half by a wide margin, 58-29.
-The Macs shot 36-of-66 (54.5%) from the field, while holding the Pacers to a 19-of-48 (39.6%) clip.
-IU shot 47.6% from three and held Marywood to only 4-of-14 from beyond the arc.
-Immaculata owned the advantage on the boards,m 36-32.
-Marywood was more efficient at the line, shooting 27-of-32 (84.4%) opposite IU's 15-of-22 (68.2%) mark.

Immaculata (7-7, 4-4 CSAC) returns to action Jan. 17 to host Clarks Summit in CSAC play. Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
