(Peluse, Wake Forest)

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Wake Forest head coach Tom Walter picked up his 250th win at the helm of the Demon Deacons in a 9-3 win over Notre Dame at Frank Eck Stadium on Sunday.

Walter is just the third skipper in program history to reach the 250 plateau, joining George Greer (608) and Marvin Crater (269).

The Demon Deacons (11-13, 5-4 ACC) tallied a season-high 17 hits, including four apiece from Bobby Seymour and Michael Ludowig.

Colin Peluse(4-0) (Middletown) once again pitched into the eighth inning, allowing one run on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

The Deacs scored two runs in each of the first two innings and two more in the fourth to chase Fighting Irish (10-12, 4-5 ACC) starter Cameron Junker (0-2) from the game.

Johnny Aiello went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three walks, while Jake Mueller went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk and two stolen bases. Logan Harvey added two hits and a walk, as well.

Seymour roped a two-run double in the first, then Mueller and Aiello drew run-scoring walks in the second to give the Deacs an early 4-0 lead.

Wake Forest tallied five hits in the fourth, including back-to-back doubles from Mueller and Aiello and added a Shane Muntz RBI fielder's choice to push the lead to 6-0.

After Notre Dame scored a run in the fourth, the Deacs got that run back in the sixth on a Harvey sacrifice fly which made the score 7-1.

DJ Poteet hit an RBI single in the eighth and Seymour added a sacrifice fly in the ninth to increase the advantage to 9-1. Notre Dame scored twice and loaded up the bases in the ninth, but Antonio Menendez tallied a strikeout and flyout out of the pen to end the game.

Wake Forest returns home on Tuesday to take on area-rival Elon at 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
