Concord Holds on for Top 10 Field Hockey Win

Casey Best scored 2 late first half goals to lead #6(D1) Concord Raiders past #4(D2) Archmere 3-2 in the field hockey opener for both teams.  The Raiders scored first with 18:40 left in the first half when Katherine Raab fired home a perfect pass from Alyssa Welch.  The Auks tied it 8 minutes later as Lauren Ross scored her first goal of the season.  Then Best took over scoring 2 goals in a 5 minute span.  Her first goal came with 6:40 left as she fired a rebound of a Rabb shot into the back of the net.  She then scored with 1:11 left off an assist from Macy Kosanovich.  The Auks put on the pressure in the second half earning 13 second half penalty corners.  The Auks cut the lead when junior Rebekah Kehoe scored with 15:03 left. The Auks played the last 2:24 shorthanded but almost tied it but the penalty corner was cleared away by the Raiders defense.  The Raiders(1-0) host Sanford on Wednesday at 3:30.  The Auks(0-1) host #9(D2) Delaware Military Academy on Thursday at 3:45.
