DALLAS, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team stretched its win streak to six matches with a 1-0 win over Misericordia University on Saturday night.

It is Salisbury's (6-1) third 1-0 win in its past four matches and fifth shutout of the season. Kevin Eriksen's (Wilmington Charter)  team-leading fourth goal of the season, coming in the 53rd minute, proved to be the match-winner, his second on the year.

The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team creating many quality chances on net.

Salisbury's best chance of the half came on a long ball from Noah Brittingham to Robbie Budd (Delmar), but Budd's shot was off the mark.

Misericordia's (1-3-1) best opportunity of the half came with just over two minutes to play as John Caracappa received a pass in the box with no defenders around him, but his shot went straight into the hands of Trevor Brookhart.

The Cougars and Sea Gulls went into the half tied at zero. Brookhart made four saves on seven Misericordia shots in the first half, while the Sea Gulls got just one of their eight shots on target.

Salisbury broke the scoreless tie just over seven minutes into the second half. Ryan Spadin sent a cross into the box to Eriksen, who settled the ball with his chest and fired a left-footed shot into the lower right corner of the net as he was falling down for the 1-0 lead.

Eriksen's tally would be all the maroon and gold needed, as the backline combination of Alton Walker, Trent Hofmeister, Alex Eiben, Cameron Wilson, and Kyle Munson helped post another clean sheet. Brookhart made six saves in the win.

The Sea Gulls return home to face Anne Arundel Community College on Wednesday, September 19 at 4 p.m.
