Polytech volleyball picks up first win at Brandywine

Polytech picked up its first win of the volleyball season with a 3-0 sweep at Brandywine on Oct. 1. The set scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-13.

The first two sets were close, with the host Bulldogs taking small leads of three or four points on a few occasions. But the Panthers responded in each set, thanks in large part to the service game of libero Delaney VanVessen. Also, the play up front of Naima Meredity and Ashley Blaeuer helped overcome the Bulldogs’ height.

For Brandywine, Tiffany Gray had six kills, while Isabella Spiess had four kills and three aces. Moira Dinkins led the Bulldogs with six blocks. The Bulldogs (4-3) play the second of three straight home matches on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. against McKean.

No individual statistics were available for the Panthers, who improved to 1-7. They travel to Sussex Tech on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
