It takes four sets, but Middletown defeats Concord

BRANDYWINE HUNDRED – Middletown used a balanced offensive attack to take a four-set victory over Concord in Blue Hen Conference Flight A volleyball on Oct. 5. The Cavaliers won by scores of 25-15, 21-25, 25-15, and 26-24.

A raucous crowd that included several members of the Raiders' football team was on hand. The Cavaliers steadily pulled away for victory in the first set, but it was a different story in set number two. Middletown rebounded for a comfortable win in the third, but the Cavs needed an extra point in the final set to go home with the victory.

For Middletown, Jaden McGeoch led the way with eight kills. Aryelle Conley had seven kills, while Jasmyne Davidson had six and Kayla Bell-Davis five. The Cavaliers served up 15 aces, with Davidson getting six of them and Lindsey Shaffer picking up five. The Cavs improved to 7-4, 4-1 in Flight A. They are home for the remaining four matches on their schedule, beginning Wednesday vs. Newark at 5:30 p.m.

Individual statistics were not available for Concord late Friday night. The Raiders are now 5-4, 2-2 in the conference. They play the next two on the road, with the first one at Delcastle on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.
