    (Photo compliments of Washington Mystics) WASHINGTON’S DELLE DONNE, MINNESOTA’S MOORE NAMED WNBA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK July 2, 2018 Elena Delle Donne (Ursuline/UD) of the Washington Mystics and Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx today were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played June 25 to July 1. Delle Donne was selected Player of the Week for the 14th time in her six seasons. She averaged an East-leading 24.7 points per game, ranked second in the conference in rebounds (7.3 rpg) and tied for first in blocked shots (1.67 bpg) last week as Washington went 2-1. Delle Donne also converted all 18 of her free throw attempts. The highlight of the week for the 6-5 forward/guard came on June 28, when she made a game-winning, buzzer-beating three-pointer to complete a 22-point effort as Washington defeated the visiting New York Liberty 80-77. Two days earlier, Delle Donne tallied 25 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 92-80 home win over the Connecticut Sun. She closed her week with 27 points and a season-high 13 rebounds in an 84-74 home loss to the Phoenix Mercury on July 1. Moore earned Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row and her 19th time in eight seasons. She led the Lynx to a 3-0 mark as Minnesota extended its winning streak to seven games and improved to 10-6. The 6-foot forward led the WNBA in scoring (27.3 ppg) for the week. Among West players, she tied for 10th in rebounds (5.7 rpg), was sixth in field goal percentage (53.4, 31-of-58) and ranked seventh in three-point field goal percentage (56.3, 9-of-16). Moore started the week with a season-high 32 points to go with seven rebounds in a 91-79 win over the visiting Seattle Storm on June 26.     By Ben Gellman / Salem Red Sox | July 2, 2018 10:19 PM ET   KINSTON, NC (Monday, July 2) - The Salem Red Sox got a career-best nine strikeouts out of starting pitcher  Monday night, but wildness and a lack of clutch hitting sent them to a 6-3 loss to the Down East Wood Ducks at Grainger Stadium. The Red Sox (5-6, 37-42) dropped their second game as they saw their bats go quiet down the stretch Monday night, as they got only one baserunner after the fifth inning and went 1-8 with runners in scoring position . The Wood Ducks (6-6, 40-41) jumped ahead early and never trailed in the game, getting superb relief efforts from  (H, 3) and  (S, 1) to lock down the win.  The Wood Ducks wasted little time, breaking through in the bottom of the first against Houck (L, 3-10). Leadoff man  placed a single in shallow left, and advanced to second when  earned a walk.  thumped a double to deep left-center field to plate Altmann, and a wild pitch brought in Taveras to make it 2-0. Houck managed to stem the tide there, striking out two and inducing a ground-out to end the frame. Down East added another run in the second when  slapped a two-out liner to right-center for a triple, and another Houck wild pitch brought him in from third to run the lead to 3-0. Salem trimmed the lead down in the top of the third inning against Wood Ducks starter  (W, 1-1), who surrendered a one-out walk to  before a groundout advanced Netzer to second.  hit a bouncer to third, but Chuck Leblanc threw the ball into the stands; the error moved Dalbec to second and brought Netzer home to cut the lead to 3-1.     Pulaski, TN - The Burlington Royals (2-8) used a dominant pitching performance to down the Pulaski Yankees (3-7) by a score of 2-0 on Friday night. Three pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout.   Starter  went 3.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts to begin things for Burlington.
