The soccer season continued with some great match ups last week including a key Independent conference match between Sanford and St Andrews. The Warriors scored a goal in each half to knock off the number one team 2-1.
Division 1
No. 1 St George’s Tech (9-0)(LW #1) The Hawks picked up wins over Caravel, Delcastle and Middletown last week. They host Odyssey Charter on Thursday.
No. 2 Sallies (5-2)(LW #3) The Sals went 3-0 last week with wins over LaSalle College, Tower Hill and Wilmington Charter. They didn’t allow a goal in all 3 games. They host North Burlington NJ on Friday night
No. 3 Appoquinimink (7-2)(LW #4) The Jags picked up three wins last week including a win over Delcastle. They play Christiana next Tuesday.
No. 4 Caesar Rodney (8-1)(LW #5) They went 3-0 last week with wins over Smyrna, Indian River, and Delmar. They travel to Dover on Thursday before the championship game rematch with Sallies next week
No. 5 Cape Henlopen (8-2)(LW #2) The Vikings lost a pair of 2-1 matches to Brandywine and Sussex Academy. They travel to Milford on Saturday.
No. 6 Sussex Central (7-1)(LW #6) The Golden Knights went 3-0 last week with wins over Sussex Tech, Worcester Prep, and Indian River. They travel to Smyrna on Thursday night.
No. 7 Wilmington Charter (4-2-3)(LW #7) The Force fell to No. 2 Sallies. They host DMA on Thursday.
No. 8 Middletown (6-3)(LW #8) The Cavs went 3-1 last week with wins over MOT Charter, Hodgson, and Smyrna before losing to No. 1 St Georges Tech 2-1. They travel to Odessa on Thursday.
No. 9. Delcastle (5-4-1)(LW #9) The Cougars went 0-3 last week all against ranked teams. They lost to Saint Mark’s, St George’s Tech, and Appoquinimink. They travel to Sanford on Thursday.
No. 10 Christiana (5-3-1)(LW Unranked) The Vikings defeated Odessa last week. They travel to Appoquinimink next Tuesday.
Division 2
No. 1 Sanford (7-2-1)(LW #6) The Warriors went 3-0 last week with wins against then No. 1 St Andrew’s, Wilmington Christian, and then No. 3 Tower Hill. They host Delcastle on Thursday.
No. 2 St Andrew’s (10-1)(LW #1) The Saints went 2-1 last week with wins over Smyrna and Tatnall. They lost to Sanford 2-1. They travel to Tower Hill on Thursday,
No. 3 Sussex Academy (8-1)(LW #2) The Seahawks went 3-0 last week with wins over Delmar, Dover, and Cape Henlopen. They travel to Sanford on Thursday.
No. 4. Saint Mark’s (6-1)(LW #5) The Spartans went 1-0 last week with a win over DelCastle. They host Caravel on Thursday night.
No. 5 Friends (5-3-1)(LW #3) The Quakers went 1-1-1 last week with a win over Aspira then they tied Tatnall and lost to Caravel/ They travel to Sanford next Tuesday.
No. 6 Concord (8-1-1)(LW #7) The Raiders went 3-0 last week with wins over Mckean, Christiana, and Newark. They host AI DuPont on Thursday.
No. 7 Tower Hill (4-4-1)(LW #4) The Hillers went 1-2 last week against a tough schedule.They defeated Archmere before losing to Sallies and Sanford. They host No. 2 St Andrews on Thursday,
No. 8 Indian River (5-3-2)(LW #8) The Indians went 0-2 last week with a pair of losses to ranked Henlopen North teams Caesar Rodney and Sussex Central. They travel to Laurel on Thursday,
No. 9.Lake Forest (5-3-2)(LW #9) The Spartans went 2-1 last week with wins against Laurel and Sussex Tech before a loss to Dover. They travel to Delmar on Thursday.
No. 10 Brandywine (4-3)(LW Unrank) The Bulldogs beat then No. 2 Cape Henlopen and AI DuPont. They host Mount Pleasant on Thursday.
The Independent conference has been so strong this year with 4 teams ranked in Division 2 and every team has big wins on the season. Last week Sanford picked up two conference wins while Friends tied Tatnall, the only unranked team in the conference. That Hornet team reached the semifinals last year and could decide who wins the conference,
