The No. 1 ranked Cape Henlopen Vikings brought their offense on the trip to Wilmington as they faced the No. 2 ranked Conrad Red Wolves. The Vikings scored nine runs on eight hits in the top of the third inning en route to a 13-3 victory over the No. 2 ranked team in the state.
Emmett Wheatley was the catalyst in the nine run third inning for the Vikings. Wheatley doubled and singled in the inning scoring two runs himself, while knocking in one run. Jase Mitchell added a triple knocking in two runs and scoring one. Liam Mitchell, Brad Marks,Trey Hitchcock, and Brady Kosc all singled and scored a run in the big inning for the Vikings.
Cape collected up 16 hits in total as Wheatley and Mitchell went 4-for-4 on the day at the plate to lead the Vikings. Hitchcock and Kosc also added two hits a piece to join Wheatley and Mitchell with multiple hits. Jaxon Clampitt got the win on the mound for Cape Henlopen. He gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking one.
AJ Shute hit a solo home run to center field as he and Mark Spoor each collected multiple hits to lead Conrad.
