Gray lifts Salesianum over Archmere with strong hitting performance

Jimmy Gray was perfect at the plate as No. 1 Salesianum Sals defeated Archmere Academy 8-3 on Friday night at Fusco Fields – Baseball Stadium. Gray went 3-3 with two singles and added a triple in the sixth inning, knocking in his only RBI of the game. Grey also scored 2 runs for the Sals

Trailing 2-1 after a double by Dylan Thompson that knocked in two runs, Archmere Academy took the lead . The Sals answered, scoring six of their eight runs in the bottom of the second as they blew the game open turning a one run deficit into a four run lead. Matt McSorley had the big hit in the inning crushing a shot to deep center field which knocked in 2 runs while he slid in safely for a triple. 

Salesianum had eight hits in the game that helped them score eight runs. Gray led the team going 3-3 at the plate, but Brooks O’Hanlon was also perfect at the plate going 2-2 with two runs scored. CJ Moxley, Landon Johnston, and McSorely all collected one hit a piece to help lead the Sals offensively.

Billy Neumann earned the win for the Sals, but he surrendered three hits and three runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two. In relief Jack Bujnowski shut down the Auks pitching four innings while not allowing a single hit while striking out four batters and walking two. 

Jonathan O’Boyle took the loss for Archmere Academy. Offensively Dylan Thompson doubled and added two RBI’s, while Riley Schultz and Charlie Malloy each collected one hit a piece.
