Leigh Chesworth earned the win for Padua Pandas as they hosted the Indian River Indians at University of Delaware. Chesworth threw a complete game shutout allowing five hits striking out seven batters. She did not walk a single batter in seven innings.
Chesworth was not only strong on the mound but at the plate also. She went 1-for-2 on the day with a double and one run batted in. Here RBI in the bottom of the third inning extended the Padua Academy Varsity Pandas lead to 2-0.
A sacrifice bunt by Bella Calamita put Padua Academy Varsity Pandas on the board in the bottom of the second for the first run of the game. Sophia Evans led Padua at the plate with two hits in three at bats and a run scored.
Autumn Willey took the loss for the Indians. She went six innings, both runs were unearned on six hits, striking out five and walking none. Parker O’Shields led Indian River going 2-for-3 on the day.
