The Caravel Academy Buccaneers were named the No. 1 Seed in this year’s DIAA Girls Basketball State Championship. The Buccaneers earned the top seed this season with a 17-3 record on the season. Their only in-state loss was to Ursuline Academy with their other two losses coming to out of state opponents Paul VI (NJ) and Mt. Zion Prep (MD). Their notable in-state wins included No. 7 St Elizabeth’s, No. 6 Sanford, and No. 3 Smyrna.
The other top 8 teams who have earned a first-round bye are No. 2 DMA, No. 3 Smyrna, No. 4 Seaford, No. 5 Ursuline, No. 6 Sanford, No. 7 St Elizabeth’s, and No. 8 Padua.
Games will begin on Monday Feb. 24th with game times set at 6pm. All games in the first two rounds will be played at the high seed.
