The reigning state champion Dover Senators were named the No. 1 Seed in this year’s DIAA Boys Basketball State Championship. The Senators earned the top seed this season with a 17-3 record as they set out to defend their title. Their two in-state losses came to No. 2 St Elizabeth’s, No. 6 Sanford. Their third loss was to out-of-state opponent South Lake (VA). Their notable in-state wins included No. 8 Salesianum, No. 12 Smyrna, and No. 13 William Penn.
The other top 8 teams who have earned a first-round bye are No. 2 St Elizabeth’s, No. 3 Seaford, No. 4 St. Georges, No. 5 Conrad, No. 6 Sanford, No. 7 Howard, and No. 8 Salesianum.
Games will begin on Tuesday Feb. 25th with game times set at 6pm. All games in the first two rounds will be played at the high seed.
