Salesianum and Ursuline Crowned State Champs in Swimming as both schools extended their win streaks

The Salesianum Sals and Ursuline Academy Raiders were crowned DIAA Boys and Girls Swimming State Champions with dominating wins. The Sals scored 389 team points in the Boys Championship, while Ursuline scored 341 team points in the Girls Championship as both schools extended their win streaks.

Salesianum wins their ninth consecutive state championship by outscoring the runner up St. Mark’s High 389-273 team points. The Sals got first place finishes from Tim Hanaway in the 500 Yard Freestyle, while the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Dylan Ristenbatt, Sebastian Hess, Emery Hess, and Alex Tsakumis not only placed first, but set a new state record with a time of 1:25.83 beating the old record time of 1:26.50 set by Saint Marks in 2024.

Ursuline won their third consecutive state championship as they outscored runner up Charter School of Wilmington 341-245 in team points. The Raider got two individual first place finishes from Eliza Johnson as hse won the 200 Yard IM, and the 100 Yard Backstroke. They earned two more first place finishes in two different relays. The team of Mia Devlin, Mia Thayer, Sammy Weinert, and Johnson took first place in the 200 Yard Medley. The also finished first place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with the team of McKinley Jefferson, Taylor Aiello, Devlin, and Johnson.
